Free Fat Transfer (FFT) Overview and Applications
Free Fat Transfer (FFT) has many cosmetic applications for body augmentation. It can be used for enlarging/augmenting the penile shaft, buttocks, face, and other areas of the body.
FFT for Penile Enlargement: Benefits and Risks
In regard to penile enlargement, it can be successful in increasing girth but there are some pros and cons to this. For example, if the FFT is successful and the tissue ‘takes’ and is placed in evenly, then we have a successful enlargement. What are the cons to this procedure? When a FFT is performed it is very invasive, needing to take fat from the belly area, as an example, and transferring that to the penile shaft area. This involves, in most cases, general anesthesia and a higher risk for infection due to the invasiveness. In addition the FFT may actually die. This is living tissue and if the circulation is not reestablished within a certain time frame, it will not survive. This will result in a poor girth increase, and perhaps a very lumpy result. Lastly, FFT, even if successful, will feel very soft, just like fat tissue normally feels. So, for the erect penile shaft, having a lot of softness is contrary to what is desired.
FFT Compared to Permanent Filler
Now, if we simply compare the FFT with Permanent Filler, the Permanent Filler will result in collagen formation which is a much firmer material and better suited for the penile shaft because greater firmness is desirable. Also, Permanent Filler can be directed to fill more evenly providing more balance and symmetry. In addition, Permanent filler can enlarge the Glans (head of the penis) and the Scrotum as well if one desired. Enlarging the Glans does help with keeping proportion with the enlarged penile shaft. Lastly, the Permanent Filler, which is an injection technique, is generally much safer than the surgical FFT procedure, and the Filler procedure is performed under local anesthesia, which makes is a much safer procedure.
